Meet Dr. Scott Paterson, B.Sc. (Med), M.D., FRCP(C)

Dr.  Scott Patterson, Anaesthesiology in Edmonton, Alberta
Dr. Scott Paterson is certified, by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as a specialist in the practice of anesthesiology. He has practiced as an anesthesiologist in Edmonton, Alberta since 1995. Scott obtained his B.Sc. (Med) at the University of Alberta in 1987 and received his M.D. from the University of Alberta in 1990, graduating with the John W Scott Honor Award. Scott then completed his five-year specialist anesthesia residency at the University of Alberta and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1995. He was appointed to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society in 1993.

Scott is a Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta and served as the Faculty of Medicine, Resident Program Coordinator at the Royal Alexandra Hospital from 1997 to 2003. For over fourteen years, he was a strong advocate for Alberta patients and the practice of anesthesia through his work as President and other executive positions for the Alberta Medical Association, Section of Anesthesia. In 2013, he became an inspector of Non-Hospital Surgical Facilities for the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Since obtaining specialist qualifications in 1995, he has practiced anesthesia in Edmonton and has worked at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Department of Anesthesia since 1996. He began to practice at Kingsway Oral Surgery in 2007 and brought with him extensive experience, knowledge and background in ambulatory day surgery anesthesia.

Scott has been involved with teaching pre-hospital emergency care to paramedics in Edmonton and has served as a volunteer Medical Director since 1998. Since 1997, he has maintained certification as a Medical Director for Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Trauma Life Support, and enjoys teaching these programs to other medical professionals.

Scott has been happily married since 1998 and has been blessed with two wonderful daughters. In his leisure time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family. From 2006 to 2010, he served as a volunteer member to the Board of Directors at the Royal Glenora Club, and as Club President he enjoyed the many challenges presented. This is a Club that he and his family utilize extensively and greatly enjoy today.
