Dr. Christopher RobinsonDr. Christopher Robinson is a certified specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery currently engaged in private practice in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Christopher was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta.  He did his early pre-professional undergraduate education in biological sciences at the University of Calgary.  He graduated from Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 1973.  His received his post-graduate residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital program in New York City.  After completion of his training in 1976, Christopher extended his studies with two years of additional post-graduate fellowship experience in England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Christopher returned to Edmonton in 1978 and has maintained his private practice with the Kingsway Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery group ever since.  The Royal College of Dentists of Canada awarded him his Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1980.   Christopher is a Clinical Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, where he has taught for over 25 years.  He co-developed the original 3rd and 4th year curriculum on Dental Implants.   He is a founder and clinical fellow at the Craniofacial Osseointegration and Maxillofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation Unit (C.O.M.P.R.U.) Here; patients having undergone ablative cancer surgery or extensive trauma are rehabilitated using osseointegrated implants. He retains active staff privileges at the Misericordia, Royal Alexandra, University of Alberta and Stollery Children’s Hospitals.  He has lectured and presented locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of surgical and other topics and has served as a mentor and participant in numerous focused professional study groups.

Christopher has previously served the Alberta Dental Association and College as chair of the Hospital Services Committee, the Ad-hoc Committee on Sedation and Anaesthesia Guidelines and on the Provincial Legislative Resource Committee.  He has also served as President of the Alberta Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  He is a founding member of the Alberta Society of Dental Specialists. He is a fellow with the Academy of Osseointegration and has served as Councilor to the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and as an Examiner for the R.C.D.C. He is a member of the Hardman Society and a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Academy of Dentistry International. At the Canadian Dental Association, he has been actively engaged in the processes surrounding specialty definitions, labor mobility and portability of licensure.  He has attempted to clarify the role of specialty inclusion within the CDA and served as the first Chair of the recently established CDA Committee on Specialist Affairs. He is a Past President of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and now serves as its Executive Director.

Christopher is the founder and President of an Alberta based, Buddhist, non-profit community service organization.  He has practiced and taught a form of Buddhist meditation for over 20 years. He is a certified Medical Acupuncturist. He has an active interest in creating fused glass art, collects mechanical watches and is an avid motorcyclist. He played lead for the 1966 Canadian Junior Men’s Curling Champions.  Christopher has been married to Dianne for 35 years and they have three children; Kari, Michael and Angela and two grandchildren; Sophia and Olivia.
