Dr. Stanley OlsonDr. Stanley Olson, is a certified medical anaesthesiologist who currently practices in Edmonton. He was born in Camrose and attended elementary, junior high and high school in his native province. He went a little farther afield when he entered the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Stan was in Pre-Med from 1961 to 1963 and entered Medical School at the University of Alberta in 1963 obtaining his M.D. in 1967. He completed a rotating internship at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in 1969 and his residency in anaesthesia at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital in 1972. Stan became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in September of 1972.

Stan is currently the Medical Director of Kingsway Oral Surgery. He is on active staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and is also a partner in the Kingsway Anaesthesia Group.

During his medical career, Stan has served on and chaired many hospital committees. He was the Chief of the Department of Anaesthesia at the Royal Alexandra Hospital from 1978 to 1983 and Chairman of the O.R. Committee from 1980 to 1984. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Medicine and Oral Health Sciences since 1978. From 1972 to the present, Stan has been instrumental and remains actively involved in organizing, building, writing regulations for and inspecting non-hospital surgical facilities in the Province of Alberta for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Stan is married to Gloria and they have one son and two daughters. His daughters have just recently made them proud grandparents to Devon and Nicholas. Stan is President of the Edmonton and District Doctors’ Curling League, enjoys a bit of golf and loves to travel. He has been active in his community and was a ringuette coach for many years. He is also an Uncle at Large. Stan and Gloria have a beautiful lake cottage, which they retreat to as much as possible.
