Dr. Mickleborough was born and raised in Eston, Saskatchewan. He received his undergraduate schooling at the University of Saskatchewan before being accepted to the University of Alberta to complete his degree in dentistry. Dr. Mickleborough graduated from the University of Alberta Dental Faculty in 1966 with distinction and was awarded the Alberta Dental Association’s Gold Medal for his high academic standards as well as his outstanding abilities in the field of dentistry.

Dr. Mickleborough was then accepted to the University of Illinois at the Medical Centre in Chicago for post-graduate studies in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He was awarded his Masters in Science in 1969 from the University of Illinois. His postdoctoral studies continued in the United Kingdom under Mr. Norman Rowe, in Zurich, Switzerland with Dr. Hugo Obwegesser and in Copenhagen with Dr. Pindborg.

Dr. Mickleborough then returned to Edmonton, Alberta in 1970 to private practice and was granted his fellowship by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in 1972. He has enjoyed a long and successful career in the city of Edmonton providing a variety of surgical services to Northern Alberta, Northern British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Dr. Mickleborough has enjoyed a long relationship with the University of Alberta being appointed clinical professor to the Faculty of Dentistry, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as to the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Mickleborough is the Past-President of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and an examiner in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the Royal College of Dentists. As well, he is a past member of the Edmonton District Dental Society, Alberta Dental Association, CAOMS, and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Murray has recently retired from private practice to his beautiful home on the West Coast with his lovely wife Janice but remains an important part of Kingsway Oral Surgery. His sense of humor, dedication and tremendous abilities in the profession of oral and maxillofacial surgery will always be an integral part of our facility.
